Privacy
Last updated 26 October 2026. This page is written in plain English and contains no jokes, because your data deserves to be taken seriously even if we aren't.
What we collect
- When you join: your email address, the first name you give us (optional), and your payment details. Payment details are collected and stored by Stripe, not by us.
- When you buy a gift: your name and email, and the recipient's first name, email address and your message to them. We use the recipient's details only to deliver the gift and the newsletter, and we stop emailing them when the gift ends.
- Advertising data: if you arrived from an ad, the ad click ID and campaign tags in the link, so we can tell which ads work.
- When you browse: standard server logs, and Google Analytics if you allow it. See Cookies below.
How we use it
- To take your $1 a month payment and manage your membership.
- To send you a welcome email and The Dave Dispatch, our monthly newsletter.
- To measure which adverts bring in members.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone except the services below.
Who processes it for us
- Stripe handles payments.
- Resend stores our mailing list and sends our emails.
- Vercel hosts this website.
- Google runs our ads and our analytics.
Cookies
We ask before setting any cookies. If you say yes, Google Analytics and Google Ads set cookies that tell us how many people visit, which pages they read, and which adverts brought them here. If you say no, Google gets only cookieless signals that can't identify you, such as a page having been viewed, and nothing is stored on your device except your answer.
Your answer is saved in your browser so we don't ask again. Change it any time with , also at the bottom of every page.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email.
- Cancel your membership any time from Manage membership. When you cancel, we unsubscribe you from the newsletter.
- Ask us to see or delete your data by emailing hello@societyofdaves.com.
